Manipur University, a central university located in Canchipur, Imphal, has officially released the syllabus and exam pattern for the recruitment of Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) under the non-teaching category. Candidates aspiring for this post must understand the detailed scheme of the written examination to prepare effectively and secure their place.

Scheme of Examination

The selection process comprises a written test (Objective Type - MCQ), which is the sole criterion for shortlisting candidates. The exam is of 3 hours duration and carries a total of 200 marks, consisting of 100 questions. Importantly, 15 minutes of extra time per hour is allotted for visually handicapped and cerebral palsy candidates.

Exam Pattern Breakdown

The written test includes four sections:

1. General Awareness – 25 Questions (50 Marks)

2. Reasoning Ability – 25 Questions (50 Marks)

3. Mathematical Ability – 25 Questions (50 Marks)

4. Test of Language (English) – 25 Questions (50 Marks)

Detailed Syllabus

General Awareness: This section aims to test the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, environment, and its relevance to society. Questions will cover Indian History, Polity, Constitution, Geography, Art & Culture, Science, and National/International organizations.

Reasoning Ability: Both verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions will be asked. Topics include analogies, similarities, problem-solving, visual memory, classification, number series, and logical thinking.

Mathematical Ability: This portion tests basic mathematical skills and concepts such as the Number System, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratios, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration, etc.

Test of Language (English): This section evaluates the candidate’s command over English grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, and comprehension.

Important Notes

The question paper will be in English only, and candidates must answer in the same language.

The questions will be based on the educational standard appropriate for the eligibility level of the post.

Minimum qualifying marks are set at:

45% for General category,

40% for OBC, and

35% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Only candidates who qualify in the written test will be considered for merit. In case of a tie in marks, preference will be given based on:

1. Higher marks in qualifying degree/diploma.

2. Seniority by age.

3. If still tied, selection will be made through a draw of lots.
